NFL owners vote and approve expanded playoffs for the 2020 season

The NFL owners are meeting today via a teleconference due to concerns over the coronavirus pandemic impacting the world. The group voted and approved the expansion of the playoffs for the 2020 season to 14 teams, with seven per conference.
The transition means that only one team per conference will now earn a bye week, with the remaining squads playing during the Wild-card round.
If those playoff rules had been in place during the 2019 season, only the San Francisco 49ers and Baltimore Ravens would have earned first-round byes. It would have also meant the Los Angeles Rams' and the Pittsburgh Steelers' seasons wouldn't have ended at Week 17, with each sneaking into the postseason.
